By Brendan Richardson

29th December 2018

Southwell City’s lead in the Premier Division of the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company is down to five points after they only managed a stalemate at Sandiacre Town, while Stapleford Town edged past Awsworth Villa 3-2. Jake Fisher gave Villa a half time lead, but Stapleford struck back through Joshua Watts not long after the restart. Fisher restored Awsworth’s advantage only for Adam Hassall to level matters once again on the hour mark. With five minutes remaining Owen Brown found the net with a long range free kick to seal the points for the visitors.

Cotgrave’s 2-2 draw at FC Cavaliers sees them move into third. Reece Campbell grabbed both for Cavs; Lee Potts and Sam Brakewell for Cotgrave.

Bingham Town came from behind to win 2-1 at neighbours Radcliffe Olympic. Jay Archer and Tom Spencer for Bingham cancelled out Jordan Wright’s effort for Olympic.

Aaron Russell rescued a point for Wollaton as he struck late on to give his side a 1-1 draw at home to Aslockton & Orston. Julian Joachim had put the visitors ahead in the first half.

A Danny Blanchard brace helped AFC Dunkirk on their way to a 4-1 win at Bilborough Town. Kierans Driver and Harrison were also on target; Ricky Law with Town’s consolation.

Magdala Amateurs won by the odd goal in seven at home to Calverton Miners Welfare with two goals apiece for Tom Groves and Ryan MacMillan. Corey Ashley, Alex Clarson and Ethan Hunter replied for Calvo.

In Division One, leaders Woodthorpe Park Rangers have made it to the new year unbeaten as they came away from Beeston with a 1-0 win, courtesy of Jamal Mazlam.

Bridgford United were briefly in second following a 2-1 win at Selston Reserves on Friday night, while at the same time Basford United Community saw off Awsworth Villa Reserves 6-1, including two goals for both Kamani Wilson and Alex Goodall.

Burton Joyce reclaimed the number two spot with a 3-1 win at Kirton Brickworks. Ravenshead beat Wollaton Reserves 2-0 and Ruddington Village and Bestwood Miners Welfare drew 2-2.

In Division Two, AFC Top Valley moved to the top of the pile for the first time this season with a 7-0 win over Ravenshead Reserves with hat-tricks for Kane Pearson and Ben Cummings and a brace for Joseph Gunn.

Ruddington Village Reserves are now second on goal difference after they went down 3-0 to Newark Flowserve Reserves.
