Samba Notts Senior League Round Up

By Brendan Richardson

22/23 February 2019

In the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, Adam Hassell reached the 30 goal mark for the season as his hat-trick helped Premier Division leaders Stapleford Town to a 7-1 home win against Radcliffe Olympic. Emmett Edwards’ brace and goals from Benjamin Smedley and Mitchell Robinson also contributed to the scoreline, after Callum Thorpe had given the visitors an early lead.

Awsworth Villa consolidated second place with a 5-0 win at Gedling Southbank thanks to two goals apiece for Jake and Kasey Fisher and one from Daniel Towle.

Bingham Town are up to third after they came away from AFC Dunkirk with a 4-3 win. Town’s goals were shared between Mike Jepps, Tom Spencer, Jay Archer and Michael Carpenter. George Harrison converted a penalty alongside a Brett Soiza brace for Dunkirk.

Southwell City slip to fourth after they could only draw with FC Cavaliers on Friday night. Anthony Brown opened the scoring for City but Kamar Davis ensured it was honours even.

Joshua Stevenson was on target twice for Wollaton as his side edged past Keyworth United 3-2. Matthew Eastwood also netted for the home side; Cameron Gray and Scott Litchfield replied for Keyworth.

Shea Gough put Bilborough Town ahead away at Aslockton & Orston but Julian Joachim restored parity. With time running out Cardell Labban struck to make it 2-1 to Bilborough, securing the three points.

In an eventful match at Calverton Miners Welfare, Attenborough fell behind to a Barry Payne goal. Mark Green and Elliott Pitt then put Boro 2-1 up but Green also received his marching orders. Alex Clarson was dismissed for two cautionable offences for Calvo before Dane Bennett grabbed a last minute equaliser.

Sandiacre Town and Magdala Amateurs also drew 2-2.

In Division One, Woodthorpe Park Rangers continued their dominance with a hard fought 2-0 win at Mansfield Hosiery Mills. Both Brent Horton and Adam Martin scored twice as second-placed Ravenshead beat Kirton Brickworks 5-0.

Kyle Pemberton bagged a brace for Bridgford United in their 3-0 win at Awsworth Villa Reserves while Gary Harris struck a hat-trick for Bestwood Miners Welfare as they saw off Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves 6-2.

Joshua Dixon netted twice for AFC Bridgford in their 4-0 win over Selston Reserves and Ruddington Village edged past Radford Reserves 1-0.

In an all-NSL Nottinghamshire FA Senior Trophy tie Burton Joyce knocked out Beeston 3-0 with two goals from Ricky Gardner and one from Bradley Woodcock.

In Division Two, Newark Flowserve Reserves are up to second on gaol difference, breaking the 100 goal barrier in the process, as they won 5-2 at Bingham Town Reserves. A Preston Robinson brace saw Clifton All Whites Development past Barrowby 2-1.

Ravenshead Reserves beat Elston United 3-1 and Sneinton Town won by a similar scoreline at Nottingham Community.

The last two places in the NSL Junior Cup semi-finals were decided as Ruddington Village Reserves won 3-0 at AFC Clifton and Keyworth United Development knocked out Stapleford Town Reserves 5-3.
