Lowdham Colts v Radcliffe Olympic Blue
First away fixture brings second win
Our hosts were Lowdham Colts on a sunny pleasant day. This was the second game in the Notts Youth Football League Under 15's. It was heartening to see that most of the existing team signed up again for the season. We welcomed back Joel and Kaja. We also welcome two new players Jacob and Haydon.
It was a terrific game with Heath, Jack Monk and Jack Taylor all getting a brace a piece with Kaja scoring one goal. Of course, it is not all about scoring but preventing the ball going in the other end. Henry can feel pleased with himself that he kept a clean sheet which was assisted by his defence team mates. It was good to hear Henry shouting at his team mates as he controlled his 18 yard area. Lawrence played another inspirational game.
After 2/3 minutes we were one up. There was good team play that lead to the goal and Heath finished it off with great aplomb. After 30 minutes Jack T got a goal after another good build up. He found himself a few yards out from the goal and neatly put it past the goalie. For all this there were a number of great chances that were not taken and to be fair that was true of both teams.
At half time the game was still quite finely balanced and into the second half it was important who scored the next goal. Fortunately it was the Blues. Heath scored from a very tasty long range shot that neatly dropped under the bar to make it 0-3. At this stage you could feel the flood gates opening , and so it was to be. Kaja was like a terrier and chased everything. After one of many great runs he was unfortunate not to score. Jack M had better luck scoring a brilliant goal to make it 0-4. Kaja carried on chasing and got his just rewards to make it 0-5. Jack M was on fire and got another one. Lowdham always looked like they could score but Henry was on top form tipping a couple of shots just over the crossbar. This was not the end of the excitement as from a corner Jack T headed it in assisted by nobody marking him from the Colts.
This has been a good start to the season
