Local rivals meet again
The Blues were the guests of Edwalton Cavaliers. It was a misty and murky first half although in the second half there was blue skies and sunshine. This was a competitive match with two local Radcliffe lads in the Edwalton team ending 2-2 but the Blues should really have won. There was plenty of incident and a little controversy. The Cavaliers had a lot of the possession, particularly in the second half . However the Blues hit the woodwork on numerous occasions and were unlucky not to be several goals ahead. In the first half Jack T hit the bar and Jacob hit the post. In the second half Nathan hit the bar.
The Blues were the first to score as is so often the case. After a good run down the left jack Monk managed to slide the ball home and make it
1-0 After about 30 minutes the cavaliers pegged us back and it was 1-1 at half time. In the second half we went behind 2-1 to a controversial goal. The Cavaliers were immediately flagged off side and the subsequent "goal" should not have been allowed, but it was determined that the flag was too late. I shall say no more because it is a thankless jog being a linesman or referee.
All credit to the boys they carried on and didn't give up and as a result they got their just reward. Thus was another Joel special. He thumped the volley into the back of the net. Nothing could have stopped it, which made it 2-2. At the end both Jacks had good efforts which were saved by the opposition goalie.
Just a few names that don't get mentioned enough.
Charlie, improving every week. Dan, shows real grit and is often fouled.
James, very dependable. Lawrence back to top form. A vert effective defender who is quick and doesn't dive in. Leo, terrific captain. Leads by example. Kaja, seems to be able to play all over the place. Lots of energy. Ellis a very skilful player. Jacob and Hayden both settling well into the team.
