Another freezing cold day and another muddy slippery pitch, but all hopes were high for Radcliffe after a great victory the previous week.
Our hopes were being realised straight away with a great attacking start.
Johnny was battling hard and leading the team well as captain.
Noah and Bob, the deadly duo, were impressive as always up front with Noah skipping past two players and firing home for the opening goal to Radcliffe. 1-0!
This was swiftly followed by a great interchange, with Noah squaring a brilliant ball to Josh R who calmly slotted it home. 2-0 to Radcliffe!
Long Eaton started to get their game together and managed to get a corner which was defended very well by Josh in goal, who started off another attacking move, passing to Sanju who beat a couple of players moving forward, passing to Bob who skipped past the defence and scored the third for Radcliffe - 3-0!!
Long Eaton kicked off and complacency had set into the Radcliffe team. Long Eaton attacked and got a corner which resulted in an own goal by Radcliffe. 3-1.
The over confidence by Radcliffe continued with Long Eaton putting more attacking moves in and bringing the game back to 3-2.
The pressure was on!
Radcliffe were now trying the avoid 'doing a Sandiacre'!!
The half time whistle couldn't come soon enough.
The second half started with Radcliffe kicking down hill with the wind behind them.
Joe and Josh R took control of midfield. Radcliffe were attacking well and the momentum was back following an inspirational half time team talk!
There was some uncertainty about who scored the fourth goal - Noah hit a great shot which from the sidelines looked like it went into the roof of the net. The ball came back out with Bob finishing it off. 4-2!
Radcliffe continued playing well with first Charlie in defence and then Henry. Both had good solid games. More goals could have been scored with a few one on ones missed and some good saves by the Long Eaton keeper.
A fifth goal was quickly added by Noah which more or less sealed the win for Radcliffe. By this time the players were confident and playing some great football. From a corner Johnny played Henry in who hit a great shot which was cleared off the line.
'Safe Hands' Josh impressed in goal once more keeping a clean sheet in the second half.
The match finished 5-2 to Radcliffe.
After initial fears of 'another Sandiacre', this ended up being a great team performance from Radcliffe!
