Match Report by Ian Taylor
The Blues were the guests of Ernhale Colts on a very wet and chilly day in Arnold. There have been quite a few changes over the summer and we welcome Kaja Sommerson; Daniel Marrison, Dylan Kirk; Connor Wilde and Jack Monk to the team. Jack Monk's dad is also helping out in lots of ways, including training sessions and running the line, for which we are very grateful.
This was a close game with only a spectacular goal by Joel separating the teams It came from a free kick by Joel which was about 25 yards out after a foul on Jack T. This was well within Joel's capabilities and he didn't disappoint us by thumping the ball into the back of the net. We ran our luck at times and Ernhale struck both the Blues upright and crossbar without scoring. The Blues had to defend in depth at times and the Ernhale No9 in particular was a handful. However, the victory was well deserved and both Dylan and Daniel were unlucky not to score in the last throws of the game.
The defending was excellent by all and Henry for the second match in a row kept a clean sheet and saved his team mates bacon on more than one occasion.
This was a very encouraging start to the season, but there is of course a long way to go. The boys played with a really good spirit and every
member of the team deserves credit for that as do Pat and Mike.
We look forward to our game at home next week v Gonerby YFC
