Borrowash Victoria 5 Radcliffe Olympic 3
A very poor all round performance, including an incredible FOUR own goals, contributed to a loss in a game Radcliffe will see as a missed opportunity. They started poorly but took the lead totally against the run of play through Ryan Smith's superb finish from the edge of the box on 7 minutes. For some reason this prompted the away side to sit deep and they were duly punished amid some chaotic defending as Borrowash took the lead via two own goals. The game then settled a bit before Radcliffe restored parity on 41 minutes through Ryan Smith second of the game. It was then that they lost the game in a mad 4 minutes in which the scored another own goal which was followed by the home side's only 'goal' of the day, an excellent freekick from their centre forward to lead 4-2 at the break.
A change of formation bore some fruit as Radcliffe saw a lot more of the game and things got interesting when substitute Joseph Hegarty played youngster Euan Sweeting in on goal. Showing maturity beyond his 17 years he held off the defender and finished well for his second goal in three games. However, OG was to have the final say as Liam Motson's backpass took a horrible bobble over Kev Patel's foot and rolled in to kill the game off.
